Valentines Treat: Super Easy Brownie Waffles (Plus Vegan Version)

Hey beautiful people. Valentines Day is just around the corner.  I love valentines day. Single or Taken, it is not even about that for me but that's another long blog post and we are here for these brownie waffles.

I have been eating healthier lately but there is still room for dessert and other naughty foods #balance. I am a self-confessed dessert freak, especially chocolate desserts. When it comes to something I love to eat I have no portion control, none at all. The brownie waffle came about me trying to get my dessert high in a controlled manner because, honey if I made the whole batch I will eat it all.

At the end, this is very easy to make that you can make this casually anytime you want but because it is also really delicious it makes for a great valentines treat.

Supplies:
1. Brownie Mix of your choice
( Duncan Hines Decadent California Walnut Brownie Mix $1.98)

2. Milk of choice (non-dairy needed for vegan version)
(Simple Truth Vanilla Almond Milk - Kroger $2.79)
 c
3. 1 Egg (or 1 Banana if making it vegan)
4. Chocolate Syrup
(Hershey Sugar-Free Chocolate Syrup $3.19)

5. Fruits of your choice (I used strawberries and raspberries)

Let's go.
1.  Brownie Mix: You can always make the brownie dry mix from scratch, it is simply (flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt). But if you don't have all the ingredients listed or wanting a quicker option. They are already dry brownie mixes available in the grocery stores and they are available with a lot of varieties. I usually get the $1.00 Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix but every now and then I spend an extra dollar or two for a special brownie mix like this one.

2. You could simply follow the instructions and measurement of the brownie mix box but since I am a rebel I usually do my own thing. I skip the oil. I sometimes make it with egg or without egg (vegan friendly)

With Egg + milk of your choice
A) I poured half of the brownie mix in a bowl.
B) then put in one egg (2 eggs if making the whole mix) and just the egg white if making a really small batch.
C& D) I mix in milk little by a little while stirring to control it from being too liquid. If it does get too liquid you can always add a little bit more mix or any random flour you have around to thicken it back up.

Without Egg + Non Dairy Milk (Vegan)

There are so many creative ways to replace the egg in baking like applesauce, flaxseeds, vegetable oil, banana, sweet potato, etc but I usually just replace it with a banana because I always seem to have a banana around.
To replace the egg I just make a blend of banana and milk and mix it in the dry brownie mix. You want the banana and milk mixture to be a bit thick so don't use too much milk. Then later when mixing the mixture into the brownie mix, if it is too thick just add a bit more milk.

Now that the Mix is made. It is Waffle time!
3.  I decided to make the vegan brownie mix and save the other mix to make again tomorrow.

The waffle maker I have is Dash Mini Waffle Maker ($9.99)

So depending on your waffle maker you follow the rules of how it works. But in general, you don't want the brownie waffle to be in any longer than a minute.

(first batch = SUCCESS!!!)

then topped it up with chocolate syrup and fruits (strawberries and raspberries)
