PlantainsYum Holiday: My Valentine's Day 2018 in Houston

please don't mind the different text colour and font , I tried making them all the same but it keeps reverting to this. Tech savvy level 1.3

I love valentines day because I love Love. I love celebrating this one thing that unites us as humans and makes the world go round. Although I have an intense studying schedule I did know I had to make an effort to celebrate one of my favorite days of the year.

Celebrating this day, I needed to find something that was FREE!!!!!!! Houston is a town that there are things happening but its not so obvious sometimes and you have to search. Luckily I found the Valentines movie event at Dunlavy. The Dunlavy is a beautiful restaurant overlooking the banks of Buffalo Bayou and Lost Lake in Houston. They are open just for brunch 9 am - 2pm and private events like weddings etc but when they don't have an event booked they host open to the public events like this valentines day event. They announce these pop-up events on their facebook page, so you have to follow their page to be in the know. The Dunlavy Facebook

Luckily the Winner of the Movie Poll was one my of favourite movies 'Sleepless in Seatle'. I even have the soundtrack to the movie. So it was perfect. The Dunlavy a beautiful location playing one of my favourite movies how could I not resist.

Being that I barely go out and I was in a beautiful area of Houston = photoshoot. So before going inside the restaurant, I took a couple, okay a lot of photos, here are just some of them.

I went to the restaurant absolutely starving. Plans to eat prior to arriving at Dunlavy didn't happen and I was hangry!!!!!!!!! Being already behind schedule and wasting time with my dumb photoshoot, there wouldn't have been enough time to sneak a little snack or burger before the movie. I knew that the event will only have appetizers and being vegetarian I am already limited to what could calm my stomach monsters but I talked to the monsters for them to give these appetizers a chance. I didn't want my hangerness to ruin one of my favourite day.

Roasted Beet Hummus with Pita Bread and Veggies. Was the only thing I saw that was vegetarian and could possibly calm my monsters. Luckily it did the trick because I was able to get continuous pita bread replacements. Thank you, Pita Bread!!!!! I am not a huge fan of beet and I thought it might taint the hummus but it didn't and the hummus dip was amazing. It was fresh and the sweetened roasted pistachio added a nice touch. I actually thought the cucumber tasted better with it but my greedy ass just kept getting more pita bread refill.

I was actually on a video call which is something I don't usually do but the place was so pretty I had to show it off to a friend and one of the waiters saw me and probably thought I was trying to take a selfie and he asked me if I wanted to take a photo, I said yes of course and he help me take these photos. The wait staff was AMAZING by the way.

The waiter then asked me if I wanted to take a photo close to the big tree. I guess he figured I was one of those photo whores which I am but I prefer to be identified as a memory hoarder instead. Surely the wait staff are experienced photographers because I am sure a place like this attracts instragrammers, actual bloggers and wannabe be bloggers like me. So I took this photo facing the other customers there and you see how uncomfortable my body is. I love photos but I am also shy about taking them especially in front of people. Oh, the irony!!!!!!!!! the tragedy!!! the comedy !!! ha!

Yes I also got a I believe Peach Mimosa, although I love the large glass, it was too sweet for me but I mean its a mimosa duh! what did I think I was getting

My restroom experience is very important to my dining experience and I give this restroom A+ for prettiness and cleanliness. I love the cute bathroom cart.

After the movie, they had some music going and I want to stay and chill but I had someone waiting for me at home: U world question bank (insert tears)

I had a great time, in a beautiful location, with great service on one of my favourite days. I will back again The Dunlavy signing out cheap version Olivia pope . ha!
